The focal point of this garden is a weathered stone fountain from Provence, whose water trickles into a planted pond, and authenticates the Mediterranean-style architecture in Carmel. An array of lush plantings, which both contrast and complement one another, appear unplanned as they soften the broken-stone path and smooth-stucco angles of the home. Textured with poppy, ceanothus, artemisia, lavender and rockrose, the terrain of the back garden rises and falls in waves of color as organic as the ocean which extends the view to the horizon.
