Wrought-iron railings ride down curved-stone walls, framing a stone stairway that lands on multiple outdoor oases. Even along level stretches, custom railing captures the garden, which riots right on through. Stones forming the lower patio are framed by verdant groundcover, creating a mosaic effect for this private retreat. A Japanese maple, wine-red in season, camouflages a copper downspout as if it were its trunk. The foliage is both sophisticated and soft, a counterbalance to the stone structure.
